Sturtevant S seaplanes and Gallaudet D-1

Just months before the United States entered World War I, naval aviation remained a small assortment of aircraft of varied types at one air station in the small panhandle town of Pensacola, Florida. In this image, taken on January 27, 1917, Sturtevant S seaplanes and a Gallaudet D-1, the latter's engine and propeller located in the middle of the fuselage, line the shore at the Cradle of Naval Aviation.

O.S. Brushless Motors - Tower Hobbies

NEW ITEM!
 O.S. Brushless Motors
Motors that really keep their cool!

O.S Brushless Motors

Pilots loyal to outstanding O.S. performance but eager to fly electric now have an ideal option, powering electric airplanes using O.S. Brushless Motors! Designed by O.S. engineers to be the new "gold standard" in electric power, these motors offer the same legendary quality and reliability that have made O.S. glow engines famous worldwide for 75 years. Only O.S. brushless motors offer a ventilation system that increases efficiency and allows the motors to generate additional power. Key to this system is a unique centrifugal fan design. The fan draws air through angled ventilation holes, across the windings and over the magnets for improved cooling.
  • Shortened motor length for easy installation in short cowls.
  • A stainless steel prop shaft.
  • Supplied back plate, prop shaft, and gold-plated female plugs.
  • A thick, distortion-resistant can design.
  • Three high-quality bearings.
  • Rigid and secure rear mounting desigwww.towerhobbies.com

Lake Hood Seaplane Crash - ATC Included!

Heritage Flight

F4U-4 Corsair

Off the coast of Korea, a pair of F4U-4 Corsair fighters landed on board the carrier Princeton (CV 37) after a mission, probably because they did not have enough fuel to make it back to Boxer (CV 21), the carrier from which they had launched earlier in the day. By tradition, the flight deck personnel on board Princeton adorned the "offending" pilots' planes with graffiti prior to sending them on their way back to Boxer.
